ROUTE 30 HERE WE STAND

‘The bus I often take crosses London from Hackney Wick in the east up to the heart of the West End at Marble Arch. This bus is the number 30 – the same bus that, on 7 July 2005, was carrying a deadly bomb. The blast caused 13 fatalities, but many more could have been killed.
‘From its beginning to its final stop, the route of the number 30 bus displays the multicultural nature of London in all its vivid colours. Today, looking at the people waiting for the number 30 bus or on board the bus, I sense an undercurrent of anxiety, and a fear of a hidden enemy, that seems impossible to overcome.
‘Still, the people of London have shown a great deal of solidarity for one another. The events of 7/7 have presented a difficult challenge to Londoners, but stronger than ever, here we stand’.
‘There’s no question that Mollica’s idea was at the heart of his success, but ideas alone are not enough. It’s essential to have an interesting idea, but you can’t divorce that form the execution. The two are intertwined, and these pictures are very well composed.’

‘These are quality images, with good use of reflection, light and shade, and tension.’
