MANNA FROM HEAVEN

Manna… it’s nothing more than a resin of a tree known as Frassino. Its beneficial effects, which include many aspects of our well being, are also important for our digestion system, breath, and organism balance.
Other uses of Manna include its employment in the ice-cream and other natural sweeteners production, because of its very good sugary taste.
When I got to the place to photograph Giulio and the way he conducts a particular way of extracting the Manna from its trees, I was very impressed from his emotional attachment to his land and the tradition of Manna extraction.
Giulio is also known as the "Manna Guru", and he is rightly considered as one of the few remaining traditional Manna farmer in the world.
Moreover,Giulio’s passion towards his activity has never lost its intensity. Quite on the contrary Giulio has built his own ingenious working tools and developed natural technics to detect imminent changes of weather, disastrous for the harvest of manna.
Cultivating the Frassini and extracting their rich resin, through the hands of The Guru, become an intimate ritual, by which Giulio finds his symbiosis with nature.
